Whitney Way Thore (born April 14, 1984) is an American television personality best known for her appearances on the television show ''My Big Fat Fabulous Life,'' which the TLC network transmits. As a fat acceptance movement activist, Thore has also achieved national recognition for her online campaign for positive body image, “No ((Body Shame)).”
==Background==
Whitney Way Thore was born on April 14, 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina United States to Glenn and Barbara Thore. She has an older brother, Hunter, who resides in New York City.
Thore was accepted into the theatre summer enrichment program at the Governor's School of North Carolina at Meredith College in 2000.〔http://nobodyshame.com/my-story-part-1/〕 After graduating from Page High School in 2002, Thore enrolled at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina majoring in theatre.〔http://nobodyshame.com/my-story-part-2/〕
After she graduated from college, Thore relocated to South Korea to teach English to schoolchildren. When Thore returned to the U.S., she became the on-air producer of ''Jared & Katie in the Morning'' on 107.5 KZL, a major radio station in Greensboro, North Carolina.〔https://www.facebook.com/nobodyshamecampaign/info?tab=page_info〕
On February 27, 2014, Thore created a dance video called "A Fat Girl Dancing" on her YouTube channel.〔https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5mThxsj_1k〕 Soon, the video went viral, allowing Thore to promote her message of body acceptance and positive body image, and as a direct result, Thore was featured on numerous media outlets such as ABC News, NBC News's ''Today'' Show, and The Huffington Post.〔http://nobodyshame.com/who-is-whitney/〕
